Pipeline Packaging Sales Meeting Contrasts Music and Military Precision

2013 Pipeline Packaging Sales Meeting in Nashville

Hosted at the Marriott Renaissance, Pipeline people experienced the local culture, meet and networked with each other and industry experts, participated in team building and learned more about their industries to live up to their tagline, “People at the Core.”

The Marriott Renaissance in downtown Nashville, TN, hosted 56 Pipeline people and guest speakers for the U.S. packaging distributor’s 2013 annual sales meeting. Against a backdrop of country, blues and honky-tonk music, the Pipeline Packaging Sales Team was introduced to concepts ranging from Flawless ExecutionSM to building a better PowerPoint.

Geoff Rupp, Pipeline’s Vice President of Sales, discusses building this year’s meeting agenda, “We wanted a fast-paced event that would be energizing, educational and rewarding. A lot of sales meetings push endless information at their attendees that is never used post-event. We wanted a more interactive exchange of ideas that our people would quickly adopt in their everyday lives.”

To set the fast-paced tone of the meeting, Pipeline Packaging brought in AfterburnerSM (www.afterburner.com), a group of active and retired military specialists who teach a business system, Flawless ExecutionSM, based on a combination of strategic, tactical military execution processes and real-life business experiences from key Afterburner personnel.

Continuing the pace, Pipeline management hosted a series of 20-minute, rapid-fire round table discussions on topics such as “Why Pipeline,” “Better Time Management with Email and iPhones,” “Know Your Core Services,” and more. Later that afternoon, an 8-event “Bucket Olympics” was held to foster team camaraderie.

Manufacturers Bway and Richards Packaging presented updates on their companies and the state of their respective industries. Pipeline’s own management and sales team provided additional sessions on pricing strategies, quality, marketing and prospecting tools as well as building better presentations.

Rupp concludes, “Events like these are essential to improving our business and building  better relations with customers. Sharing information, learning new skills and always striving to improve what we do helps make us People at the Core.
